Sail Loot Podcast 011: How Ed Robinson Quit His Job to Live on a Boat

By on January 8, 2015

In 2010 Ed and Kim Robinson took a leap of faith. They quit their jobs to go live on a boat. Coincidentally, three years later Ed published a book called Leap of Faith: Quit Your Job and Live on a Boat

Quitting my job and living on a boat is exactly what I’m trying to do. Therefore, I decided that I just had to read his book. After reading his book it was crystal clear to me that he had to join me for an interview on the Sail Loot Podcast!

Ed and Kim aren’t sailors, but they are cruisers living aboard their 36 foot Blue Seas trawler, Leap of Faith. While we here at Sail Loot tend to focus on those that use wind to propel their boat through the water, there is plenty of room for everybody that has found a way to live their dreams.

Ed shares some great advice with us about what it took to get him and his wife, Kim, minimized and living on a boat, cruising the waters of Southern Florida. For those book writers out there, he also shares some tips about getting books published, and working with Amazon.

I highly suggest picking up Leap of Faith: Quit Your Job and Live on a BoatEven if you don’t want to live on a boat, Ed includes financial advise that will hopefully inspire us all to minimize and get out of the downward debt spiral. Tools are fine to purchase, especially if they help you maintain your home, boat, website, business, etc. But that cup of coffee from Starbucks when you can make your own for WAY cheaper at home, just has to go. Or why purchase the $60,000, premium-gas guzzling, car when you can purchase a 2 year old Toyota Corolla for $14,000.

If you like Leap of Faith: Quit Your Job and Live on a Boat, then you should also pick up Poop, Booze, and BikinisThe Untold Story of Kim, and Trawler Trash: Confessions of a Boat Bum. Ed’s writing style is fun and intelligent at the same time. He will keep you laughing while sharing fantastic stories of boats, travel, and adventure.
